Another Knock-Knock Joke, And Some Observations

A couple months ago, I posted a knock-knock joke from my daughter.

I have now one to share from my eldest son (four years old). It’s not quite as ribald, but I like it.

******
Son: Knock knock.
Me: Who’s there?
Son: Nobody.
Me: Nobody who?
Son: Somebody.
******

Here’s a few more random observations about the kids.

1. I recently overheard my eldest son singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” to himself, but for some reason he was singing it as “take me out to the ball stretch”.

2. A couple doors down some people have a stuffed Frankenstein on their front porch, sitting in a chair. My kids unhumorously call it “Franken Einstein” (I think I might have pointed out a picture of Albert Einstein to them at some point).

3. My four-year old daughter has recently learned about the Incredible Hulk, and is now currently obsessed with *being* the Hulk. I recently taught her the line “Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”, which she is now fond of saying before she starts stomping around the house.

All the above is proof why kids are so much better than adults. It’s not even close, people.

  1. No kidding. And I’ve found that small children are SO much more entertained when you read Babar the Elephant stories in a hokey French accent, too.

  2. We don’t own any Babar books! We should get some.

On a related note, the last couple of years Shane & Karen have sent us a few books from the Little Critter series for the kids.

For this book, and for reasons known only to my subconscious, I read this book, and this book only, in an incredibly wacky Cajun accent.

The kids seem to like it (or at least tolerate it).

  3. My sister made up a joke when we were kids that I still find entertaining…

    Knock knock: Who’s there?
    Froggy: Froggy Who?
Froggy jump up in the air.

Kids don’t get the concept of subtle humor, so anything goes, which is great.

  4. Growing up in Atlanta and attending many Braves home games, I always thought the National Anthem referred to my team: O’er the land of the free / And the home of the BRAVES.

  5. cowboy, that’s a great joke! Anything goes is a wonderful thing, especially for knock-knock jokes.

beth, they could very well have modified it! After all, at Wrigley Field, we don’t root for the home team — we root, root root for the Cubbies (oh, what a shame).

  6. All through dinner tonight we were singing alternate endings to “Oh Susannah” after my son sang “Oh Susannah, don’t you cry for me. I come from Alabama with a scorpion on my knee.”

I come from Alabama and I really have to pee.

    The possibilities are endless.

  7. I’m reminded of myself as a 6-yr-old whippersnapper fresh out of the bathtub with my hair slicked backed, stripping off my pajama top, beating my fists on my chest, and doing the Tarzan yell. Then I’d run around the house pretending I was swinging from vine to vine.
