Favorite Simpsons Quote?

A few months back the Onion’s AV Club had a little article where their staff served up some of their favorite Simpsons quotes.

Since I’m gearing up to see the Simpsons movie at the LaGrange, it got me waxing all nostalgic for my own favorite quotes.

I remember reading the article and noting that my personal favorite was not included.

My favorite quote is from the episode “The Flying Hellfish”. It is uttered in a flashback to Grandpa Simpson and Montgomery Burns’s old army unit in WWII, as they ransack a house full of priceless antiquities.

Burns says, “We’ll be rich! Rich as Nazis!”

So, what’s yer favorite Simpsons quote?

  1. There are far too many to choose, but I have always been rather partial to Abe, after he renews his driver’s license and uses the photo of himself in the newspaper clipping entitled “old man yells at cloud”, passes by a window and shakes his fist at a cloud in the sky, demanding “who’s laughing now?”

  2. Oh wow…so many. Here are a few that always stand out:

    “It’s like something out of that Twilighty show about that zone.” (This pleases the TZ geek in me greatly.)

    “Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely true!”

    “Let us all bask in television’s warm, glowing, warming glow.”

    During the hockey game where Lisa and Bart play each other…Homer says something about how it’s his child against hers and then this great line…”The winner will be showered with praise. The loser will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore.”

    These all belong to Homer, of course. He really does have all the best lines. I could go on and on, but I won’t.

  3. barbara, very nice one!

    eg, what does a “Simpsons Quote Of The Week” have to do with a “Favorite Simpsons Quote”? They’re not cromulent at all.

    beckeye, indeed, Homer does have a lion share of the great quotes.

  4. For some reason, I like the blunt honesty of Nelson Muntz.

    My two favorites include:

    1.When stuck on a deserted island, the fourth graders are sitting around the fire and in need of food and Nelson exclaims, “I’m so hungry I could puke.”

    2.When Bart gets his first guitar and is practicing(poorly) at the bus stop, Nelson walks up and asks him what he’s trying to play. Bart says Polly Wally Doodle, and Nelson relates, “Oh yeah? Well it sounds Polly Wally Crappy. Ha ha! Burn.”

    These are my favorites because I use them in day to day life. When I do not like something, I call it polly wally crappy.

  5. Homer golfing.

    Wondering what club to use is told “open the face. use your club, the sand wedge”.

    Homer repeats “mmmmmm open face club sandwich”

    Every time I am in the sandtrap. Everytime.

  6. I liked it when Bart coined the word “craptacular”, we use that one a lot.

    Of course my favorite is probably Homer’s quote on alcohol:

    “Here’s to alcohol, the cause of—and solution to—all life’s problems.”

  7. “I’ve beaten you, I’ve threatened you, God forgive me, I even tried reasoning with you.” (Homer)

    “He’s gone mad with power, like that Albert Schweitzer guy!” (Moe)
    ===
    “Well, we’re here! And we will never speak of the shortcut again”

    “AGREED!” (Homer, with the family in chorus)
    ====
    “This can’t work, Bart. She’s a minister’s daughter and you’re the Devil’s cabana boy.” (Lisa)
    ===
    “For as long as he could dream, Man has wanted to block out the sun.” (Montgomery Burns)
