1. abscissa<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> the horizontal coordinate of a point in a plane Cartesian coordinate system obtained by measuring parallel to the x-axis
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> This word is for abscissies.
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> Nothing! By the way, if samuraifrog<\/a> says he has used this word in a normal everday conversaion, I’m going to have to cook up a new “Math Talker” award<\/a> for him.<\/p>\n

2. Scaramangian<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> of or relating to James Bond villain Francisco Scaramanga<\/a>; devilishly ruthless; having a third nipple
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> It’s hard to pronounce.
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> Blofeldish<\/p>\n

3. eponymous<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> of, relating to, or being an eponym
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> Unclear what it exactly means, even after looking it up. Also, I fear if I used this word I could be mistaken for a pretentious rock critic and brutally tackled to the ground.
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> I have no idea.<\/p>\n

4. eponym<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> one for whom or which something is or is believed to be named; a name (as of a drug or a disease) based on or derived from an eponym
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> Unclear what it exactly means, even after looking it up. WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> Again, I have no idea.<\/p>\n

5. fie<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> an interjection used to express disgust or disapproval
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> I don’t work at Medieval Times<\/a>.
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> Eee-yawwwsh!<\/p>\n

6. fisticuffs<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> a fight with the fists
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> I dunno, I think I would just feel a little silly.
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> fistfight<\/p>\n

7. ostentatious<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> marked by or fond of conspicuous or vainglorious and sometimes pretentious display
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> Using this word might make me appear ostentatious
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> “Look at that person with a stick-up-the-butt”<\/p>\n

8. pince-nez<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> eyeglasses clipped to the nose by a spring
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> Because the French don’t support Our President!
What I’ll Use Instead:<\/span> If this ever comes up, I suppose I could say “freedom nose spring-clipped glasses”<\/p>\n

9. puerile<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> juvenile; childish; silly
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> Too close to putrid.
What I’ll Use Instead: juvenile, childish, silly<\/p>\n

10. gloam<\/span>
Definition:<\/span> twilight
Why I Won’t Use It:<\/span> I dunno, I love this word. GLOAM GLOAM GLOAM.
