Public Enemy It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back A really great album, at least as good as Fear of a Black Planet, maybe even better.
Albert Brooks Comedy Minus One This is a purdy funny comedy album from the early 70's. However, I haven't really listened too it much, which is probably something inherent in the medium of recorded comedy.
Pixies Come On Pilgrim Well, it's taken only a little over a decade, but I managed to finally pick up the Pixies' first record. It's quite good, especially "I've Been Tired."
Captain Beefheart Safe As Milk This is a recent Buddha records reissue of the Captain's debut album, with bonus tracks. This is a really fun record, "Zig Zag Wanderer," "Dropout Boogie," "Abba Zaba." This would probably be a good intro to Cap'n Beefheart (if you'd like to be introduced).
Lee Hazlewood Cowboy In Sweden My girlfriend makes fun of this record mercilessly, and I haven't found any friends of mine who like Mr. Hazlewood, but I like it, dammit! "Forget Marie" is nice, honest! So are "No Train To Stockholm" and "Easy and Me." Leave the man alone! Hasn't he suffered enough?!
Curtis Mayfield Very Best Of
&
Superfly
Wow, this stuff is incredible! The music, lyrics, everything, fantastic! "Move On Up," "Pusherman, "Little Child Runnin' Wild." Go buy a Curtis Mayfield record. NOW.
Big Star Third/Sister Lovers Picked this up used. The first few times I listened to it I didn't care for it, but eventually it grew on me, like a lovely case of herpes. "Jesus Christ" and "Thank You Friends" are especially good tracks. Their cover of the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" still blows, however.
The Go-Betweens Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express I took a chance on this in the used bin. Some pop gems, "Spring Rain," "The Ghost and the Black Hat," "Apology Accepted." This album won't heal lepers, but it is still purdy good.
Trans Am Future World Booooooring. Next please.
Ohio Express The Best of Ohio Express Got this as a Japanese import. I think I have finally cured my need for late 60's bubblegum music. Too... much... sugar...
Luna Days Of Our Nights Very good record. I like it a lot more than their previous effort, Pup Tent. "Four Thousand Days," "Dear Diary," "The Old Fashioned Way." It's groovy.
Kiss Dressed To Kill Got this for five bucks. You can argue all you want, but you'll never convince me there's a better rock song than "Rock and Roll All Nite." Go ahead, try.
Pere Ubu A Whole Crapload of Ubu Crapload of Ubu is my own term, by the way. I picked up their boxed set and a couple albums besides this. A whole messa Ubu! Probably my favorite albums at the moment are New Picnic Time and Dub Housing (on 1 CD of the 4 CD boxed set).
Les Paul A Whole Crapload of Les Paul Picked up the Capitol 4 CD boxed set for cheap in the used bin. I've only really extensively listened to CD #4 so far (previously unreleased stuff). Some great music (and amazing production!). On occasion I'll boogie to the "Hawaiian War Chant."
John Cale Even Cowgirls Get The Blues A good live album from the 70's. The sound quality isn't exceptional, but the songs are real purdy.
Bill Monroe The Essential... Some great bluegrass from the 40's. Makes me want to rake leaves and drink hot apple cider. Nice.

Stay tuned for more irrelevant peeks into my spending habits!
